Our Story

Turman Realty Company, Inc. was founded on a legacy of service, leadership, and family values. After retiring from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1972, Mr. Frank A. Turman earned his real estate license and began his second career with Carter Realty. Recognizing the potential to build something lasting in Columbus, Georgia, he later purchased the firm and renamed it Turman Realty Company, laying the foundation for a multi-generational, family-run business deeply rooted in the community.

Mr. Turman’s son, Lt. Col. William E. Turman, also a U.S. Army retiree, joined the company in 1991 and continues to serve as the Associate Broker today. Over the years, several members of the Turman family have contributed to the firm’s success, including William’s siblings Frankie Turman and Robert Turman, who also served as Associate Brokers.

Turman Realty Company has always been a true family business. Mr. Turman’s wife, Edna Turman served as the company’s receptionist for decades after he acquired Carter Realty. His grandchildren began learning the business early, working summers and holiday breaks. His daughter-in-law, Dixie Turman, also served as the Sales Secretary at the company’s former North Office.

In 2018, Mr. Turman’s granddaughter Shannon Rowe and her husband Jonathan Rowe moved to Columbus to train directly under him, learning every facet of property management firsthand.

In May 2025, Shannon officially assumed the role of Owner and Broker, becoming the third generation to lead Turman Realty Company. Today, Shannon oversees the office, legal, and financial operations, while Jonathan manages field operations and construction. Together, they carry forward the company’s reputation for integrity, efficiency, and service—values instilled by Mr. Turman over 50 years ago.
